Question About Nikon FM2n Viewfinder Display

I was hoping someone would notice the question I asked about this in my CF-29 thread. Anyway, is there in fact a black shutter speed bulge in the FM2n's display, or is it a clear (not black) bulge with a thin black line on the edge, as is shown at the mir.com Web site (and, I believe, in the FM2n manual, too). This is important to me, as I would not be interested in a camera that has part of the field of view blacked out.

Mine is solid black on the left border of the viewfinder.

Yes, it looks more oval than circular, but it's there. The actual shutter speeds shown are clear and you can see the scene behind them.

I am still somewhat confused. I have been under the impression that the speed should be printed in black, and the bulge should be clear (the scene visible) with a black (oval) edge. Is this what you see?

Not sure what your asking... The shutter speed reading in the viewfinder is not a "bulge". The FM2n and all "FM" viewfinder's don't give you 100%
anyway. If you want a Nikon body with a viewfinder that shows exactly what you'll get on a film frame, go with an F_ body. Sorry if I miss your point.

I am not asking about whether it shows 100%. I can compensate for a 92% or 93% finder. I do not, however, like a display that blacks out an area of the field of view. The original FM has two "black out" areas, one on the left and one on the right. The pictures I have seen of the FM2n's display indicate that these "black out" areas are gone. The one on the right was incorporated into the right side panel, while the one on the left was converted into a clear bulge--rather than a black one that juts out into the field of view. I am trying to verify this.

The speeds are clear, they are surrounded by a black border which 'bulges' slightly into the frame in a sort of oval shape.
