That's what I did. I own both systems. When I'm in a Nikon mood, I grab my Nikon F. When I'm in a Canon mood, I grab my old F-1. Either way, I'm always happy.

Back in the 80's I had an AE-1 but sold it and went to Minolta. Never did click with the Canon and I don't know why, it was a nice camera.

I really like the Canon FD/FL and bodies from that era but I have so far resisted the urge to check some if only because I have soooo much gear now I cant shooot it all.

I really like the A1 and I think the exotic L glass may be better then similar Nikon offerings although I have no solid user comparison in my own right.

I made the mistake of cheecking into older german 35mm rangefinders so I should be busy for awhile.

Good luck whatever you decide (is it really a decision for us anymore? )
Kinda like old guitars in my case. There is barely a rational decision process anymore.

Bruce, I had to decide cameras or guitars, cameras won and so I sold most of my guitars to financ cameras. The only regret I have is selling my Taylor's.

You shouldn't because FD glass is so cheap and...nevermind. If you're planning on keeping it for a while I may go with Minolta instead, Canon prices are slightly higher for no apparent reason that I can think of other than brand. When I sold a lot of my surplus gear, the first thing to go was all of the Canon stuff.

I have all my daughters Canon gear sitting here for sale, I kinda like the stuff. I'm not a fan of do-it-all-for-me cameras, but I like the T-70, especially like the glass, bulky as it is compared to my Olympus gear. I'm glad I tried it out.

I'm glad I don't have to make that choice!

Cameras take up less space and don't require so much attention. I had two humidity controlled cabinets for all my acoustics plus replacing stings every couple months got to be tedious and expensive. Electrics need amps and they take up a lot of space as well and I got to the point I wasn't playing them that often because of pain in my wrists and hands. I still have an Alvarez and an Olympia classical. My guns on the other hand is a different story.
