New Zeiss ZF/ZE 25mm f2
This product launch slipped past me for some reason. I was less than impressed with the 25mm 2.8, but this new one seems to be something really different (aside from being faster). For one thing, it has aspherics in the design, which I think is a first in the series of ZF/ZEs. I'm wondering if this lens performs better at the edges than the 2.8, which was very sharp in the center but fell off substantially toward the edges. I'm also curious about barrel distortion - ie how much, and is it simple or wavy. My beef with expensive wide primes in this focal length has always been the less-than-stellar distortion correction. For two grand, it should have none.

Not none, but little, at infinity at least: http://www.kenrockwell.com/zeiss/slr/25mm-f2.htm#dist

Interesting. I wish I could borrow one to try. I like to see test photos, not those photoshop distortion correction factors.
