Default Hello from Iraq / New Member

Hi all,
Currently deployed to Iraq but live currently in Texas, I enjoy photography immensly, and hopefully will be my business once I retire from the military in 12 years. I currenty photograph with a Voigtlander Bessa R / R3A and a Pentax K10D (although the DLSR is in Texas). Hope everyone had a great New Years' and hope I can contribute in the future.

Colin

Welcome to the forum Colin. Would love to see your photographs of Iraq as seen through a Bessa!

Stay safe out there.

Andy.

Thanks all,
I really like the portfolio section here on APUG and I have had some photos here as it is only $21 a year but think I will create an online portfolio here on APUG. I just purchased a slide/neg scanner and once it arrives I will start posting. I have only had a flatbed to scan prints I have gotten developed so far. Iraq isn't the best place for film photography but I can get CN film developed here so I shoot mainly Kodak BW400CN, although I prefer traditional BW films like Ilford HP5 or Fuji Acros. As for the desert, it is not snowing or raining, but is has been cold at night (40F +/-5). I found this site due to RFF being down but am really enjoying the more photography vs. gear related discussions I have read. Dont get me wrong, I love my toys, but inspiration is not derived from the gear we use....

Cheers

Only joined on New Year's Eve myself. Good to see you. This does seem to be an awesome site with wealth of experience and insight which everyone is willing to share. Enjoy it my friend; and, above all - be safe.
