And a hello from the Netherlands

Just a quick hello to introduce myself to you all. I'm based in the nice city of Eindhoven, in the wonderful southern part of the Netherlands. Although many call it one of the more uglier cities of the Netherlands, I call it home.

My lingering interest in photography has been rekindled a couple of years ago. Although at the time I was sure to go digital I could not stop myself buying those wonderful film cameras that became available. And now I only feel happy when I smell fixer;-)
Being a bit of a compulsory collector as well, I think I now have about all the 135 equipment I need, compacts, Nikon SLRs and the wonderful Hasselblad X-Pan. Over a year ago I started to work (irregularly) with my Cambo 4x5 and began converting my study to a permanent darkroom, equipped with two enlargers with Ilford 500 heads and a RH Design 500 Analyzer. Unfortunately we rent, so water still needs to be carried in and out by hand.
Last week I made the leap into medium format with a great deal on a Mamiya 645 Pro TL with AE prism and powergrip, a couple of backs, and 35 till 150 mm lenses. From the experience until now with this camera it might be I'm going to abandon 135 for all serious work, other then low-light and tele work. It looks like it was just what the doctor ordered. Too bad the local shops don't stock a decent assortment of 120 film.

My main photography interests are in architecture, landscape, and macro. I'm very much looking into going for still lifes as well. A good friend always remarks I'm interested in photographing in anything that 'doesn't talk back'. B&W is my main thing although I'm getting interested in colour work as well.
Although purely a hobby at the moment, I am very much hoping into making this a paying one.

I share my home with a loving and supporting wife and cat. Both think that although I might act strange at times, it's also cute.

I very much look forward to share a weird passion with you all.

    Greetz, Lars

I always say that being normal is quit boring. But I must say that sometimes you do feel a bit lonely working with film alone. Somehow I feel that the Dutch have jumped the digital bandwagon rather eagerly.

    Thanks all for the welcome.

Tomorrow I'll be hiking in one of our national parks, the Hoge Veluwe. I´m sure I´m going to enjoy my Mamiya.

Welcome from Melbourne. I lived for several years in Tilburg, another "beautiful" city in Noord-Brabant
