    New member from the UK

    Hi y'all from the UK.

My name is Adrian, and I've joined this forum because I'm starting to use film again after 8 years in the digital wilderness.

I still have my old OM40, along with 2 50/1.8's (although one looks like an oil can exploded in it), a Tokina AT-X 60-120f2.8, a Tokina SD 70-210, and a Tamron adapt-all 28f2.8. I also have an Mju-ii compact.

I used to do most of my own processing and printing but gave up on colour pretty early on, however I long since gave away most of my darkroom equipment, just keeping a tank just in case I do any B+W again.

I have a currently on-going project scanning all my old negatives and transparencies with a plustek 7200, but it's taking forever.

    Cheers, Ady

Welcome back to film and to here!

After reading for a while you may decide to get back into the dark. Luckily, the equipment can be had for a song.

Don't waste your time. The negatives and slides will still be in good condition long after your scan files have become un-readable.

    Steve.
I dunno, some of my slides are looking a bit ropey, I have a set of about 200 from Rome 15 years ago which look distinctly colour shifty (shot on Ektachrome I think).

It's mainly for reference so I've got my entire photographic history in one place. If I ever wanted a print I would go back and rescan the appropriate negative anyway because at the moment it's a bit of a rush job and I'm not taking as much care to get the full tonal range eg. as I should.

Hi From Lancashire. Sound a bit like me - I have gone mainly back to film after 8 years on d******l. never did my own D&P tho'

Presently sending my films here http://www.photo-express.co.uk/index.html
to be developed and scanned. They develop & scan at 2000x3000 for £4/film inc return postage, and the quality is excellent. (sorry to those who have seen me plug this outfit before - I have no connection but want them to get as much business as possible so they stick around)

Oh, and I guarantee that now you are back in the land of film, especially Olympus you *will* get tempted by the god "Ebay" because there are just too many goodies at great prices out there. I know, I now have an OM1 and an OM2 and various lenses.

If your Olympus needs a CLA, this guy is excellent http://www.camerarepairs-r-us.co.uk/ highly recommended.
