One thing I haven't been called in a very long time is "cute". But I appreciate the sentiment.

I thought for sure Cindy Sherman would be there. I don't know if I see that as satire. It seems plain old cynical. And then I ask what do they mean by ignore? Never look at again? Don't think about them? There are a host of photographers whose work bores me to tears, but I always look at new work of theirs if I come across it, and thoughts may or may not form. I think the article is good as a debate topic, but I wonder if they have a list of ten photographers that they think we should pay a lot of attention to. Then we could see where this is going. As it is, it's just a grumpy opinion piece meant to provoke.

All depends on how you like your canon cooked and served, I guess.

No mention of ruin porn or its progenitors. Does this mean I can shoot my beloved urban decay without being ridiculed?

It is, isn't it? BTW, there are quite a few statues of Sibelius in Finland. He even used to be on their money.

You just need to know where to look!

“Photography is a complex and fluid medium, and its many factors are not applied in simple sequence. Rather, the process may be likened to the art of the juggler in keeping many balls in the air at one time!”
