Günter Rössler died - Film about him in the cinema this year
Günter Rössler died on the last day of the year.
He was one of the most famous nude-photographers of the GDR. He even got his photos into the Playboy, a magazine not available in the GDR...
He is one of the few photographers a full-length movie documentary is devoted to which just has been released at german cinemas and on DVD:
"Die Genialität des Augenblicks" [The ingenuity of the moment]
At least the DVD version is English subtitled.
Actually I myself only know of two popular GDR nude photographers: Günter Rössler and Klaus Ender.
The latter was rather into all-natural landscape related nude photograhy.
A sad loss indeed, but he had lived a long and prolific life. One of the best nude photographers ever in my opinion!
Nude photography lessons from german university videos? I somehow seem to have missed something at university...

Rössler did fashion photography too. The "socialistic woman in fashion", as that was the way it had to be done.
Though not all his photos fit that frame.
A better fit would be these photographs by Ute Mahler (the first one published in the same GDR fashion magazine as many by Günter Rössler).
thanks for the update....
the dvd (english subtitles) doesn't seem to be available...
I found it (with English subtitles) at german Amazon (it is not listed at Amazon.com):
Concerning GDR fashion photography: here some samples out of that renown fashion magazine Sybille
