Gregory Colbert as featured in Camera Arts magazine

    Hi all

I really enjoyed looking at Gregory Colbert's images in the latest issue of Camera Arts magazine. They all have such a wonderful, spiritual quality to them. Did ya'll enjoy them too?

Interesting to note: in reading the accompanying article, I learned that he uses 35mm cameras and "is very secretive about discussing the technical process used to create the prints, which exceed three by nine feet in size..." "It's alchemy," he says.

So, any alchemists on this forum? Of course, the prints look grainy as the dickens but I think the grain enhances the mood of his images.

    Another article about Gregory Colbert

I don't have any notion about his "alchemy", but I believe there was a recent
article in "The Smithsonian" about Colbert. (Somebody gave me a copy of
the magazine, and I recognized the picture of the guy releasing the raptor - had just
seen it in Camera Arts. I'm at work, and the magazine is at home, so I can't give you a more specific reference.)

I haven't been down to the show, but friends who have found it pretentious and sentimental, particularly with Morgan Freeman's narration in the background.

I don't have an opinion myself about them, not having seen them yet. Just passing on what I've heard.

No worries, David! Just because they appeal to me doesn't mean they will trip everyone's trigger. It's all good
