    Esther Bubley

Esther had been one of the first women photo-journalists! On this site, there are quite a few of the images she had captured:

I certainly love discovering 'new-to-me' photographers who can inspire the "squat' outta me!

A few more examples of her work...

It's great to find obscure photographers! The frustration can be that they have woefully few examples of their work on the web, especially if they worked earlier in the century. Bubley's work is great, and it's a shame she's not more well known.

A few favorites of mine are hard to find good examples of their work in the web. One in particular... Chansonetta Stanley Emmons. (With gratitude to another APUGger for giving me a book of her work... thanks, Bill!) Another, the photo-secessionist Gertrude Kasebier.

I would love to learn of other lesser known, but inspiring photographers too! Great start to a thread Wheelygirl!

Never heard of her. But some intriguing photos!

It is a good idea to introduce photographers which are most probably not known to the majority of members.

Glad you liked her work :-).

I'm also a fan of Charles Jones -- clearly a work of love....
