Danny Wilcox Frazier - Small Town Bar

http://mediastorm.org/0025.htm

These photos are really striking. I guess because, partly, it's the sort of photography I try to aspire to.
Partly because it's so real and genuine. And maybe a bit because it's a lot more like the place I live myself than I sometimes care to admit.

Heard him talking about about Driftless and other projects earlier this year. Very humble photographer doing very good work. Shoulda bought the book after, still kicking myself. He's a one camera, one lens photographer if I recall correctly. M6 and 35 summicron I think.

Looking forward to seeing the results, then.

Until then, this guy's work has garnered a lot of attention and praise, deservedly so.

I am printing a show right now for another member/contributer of Redux. Her work is very good as well.
Small town bar, how many here remember the small round tables with long neck glasses where the single men had to sit in one room and couples would sit in another room?
Spent a lot of underage drinking and as well lonely nights when I was travelling. We use to call them the local zoo.

Bob, I've heard so much about your work - I'd love to see you if/when I ever drag my hide to Trawna. The show you're working on sounds pretty interesting...I've heard of such places and you can still see the echoes of them in small towns or particularly divey bars where time hasn't quite caught up yet.
This site stuck with me b/c I've seen a lot of people fall into the situation that woman talks about.
