    The Mexican Suitcase

Anyone in or near New York should find this of interest.

By stubbornly refusing to open branches in Elkhart, IN these big institutions are sadly contributing to the cultural and intellectual poverty of our region. Personally, I don't think that an exhibit can be said to have been "important" or even "influential" until it's hit the local art museum.

Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside in a cloud of smoke, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming– “Wow! What a Ride!”

This Suitcase was like a legend, a myth. It's a treasure of history, photography and a tribute to photojournalism at his best.
    Highly recommended !

That's the one! A few decades ago it was the RV capital of the world! Before that it was the band instrument capital of the US, at any rate. Before that... it was a farm. But anyway: have you been here?

I'm reviving this old thread as NPR just did a story on it:

Here's the link to the website story, with photos.
