Not quite the same experience as visiting B&H in NYC, but definitely a welcoming haven for the traditional photographer.
I'll be in Chicago for a few days after New Years. I've got a small list of needed items, but I always keep my eyes open for the things that I would forget I need until I see them. As regards the weather, we have always had good luck with Chicago regardless of the season. That could change, but on vacation who cares?
Cheers,
Tom

Ansel Adams had the Zone System... I'm working on the points system. First I points it here, and then I points it there...

Brian - Haaa! It starts getting nicer in April, but I think we once got 10inches of snow in the 1970's in early April. June might be more your style....

I shoot in Chicago 4 times a year. Thanks for the info. Can't wait to visit them.

The distribution system for magazines is very strange. Some magazines come to her or are purchased by her near the end of or after the month shown on their cover. Others arrive before that month.
Of six magazines at the top of her pile of relatively recent arrivals one has a cover date of February, 2013, another has a cover date of January/February 2013 and four have a cover date of January, 2013.
As I read once, this is driven by over the counter magazine sales. So they don't end up with a magazine that is past the cover date. Apparently people don't want "old news" even in magazines that are not news oriented.

Yeah, but just try to buy a Christmas tree in August...
To save on a Christmas tree, celebrate the Orthodox Christmas (around Jan. 7th), and get the tree on Christmas Eve.

I have enough to deal with between my ultra religious Protestant fathers side, my really religious Roman Catholic mothers side, and my girlfriend being an Orthodox Jew.... Lol, I've got enough problems lol

And it's been a record year for shooting in Chicago.

I spent my early childhood in Montreal. Chicago winters aren't all that bad. Cleveland is positively balmy this time of year.
