Sifting through the shelves at half price books can pay off...
I was at half priced books today while awaiting some car repairs. I happened upon and purchased one of the most astounding books Ive ever come across... Lois Conner - China.
Its a collection of 100+ 7x17 and 8x10 platinum prints (some even look like 12x20 proportion) of landscapes, people, urban, etc all around china. The images and reproductions are just exquisite I snatched up the book for little more than $35 and spent the next hour plus sipping a cup of coffee and pouring over the images. I had never heard of her nor the book and just made my waiting time fly by.
Just thought I would share if anyone happens across this particular book.
PS Lois if you happen to read this if I made enough I would have paid the full $100 cover price. Well worth it.

Matt, I've been wanting to check this book out for some time. When we get together you'll have to bring it!
I'm a big fan of the 1/2 price bookstores (the chain and a local place here) where I've picked up a wide number of books from a Keith Carter to a Ralph Gibson to Barnbaum's instructional book.
Let's see what I've got in the magic trash can for Mateo!

i have her book Panoramas of the Far East. lovely indeed, and to think she rode a bicycle carrying all her equipment to make these images.

Most of my photo books came from Half Price Books. We make regular visits to the big flagship store here in Dallas. When I'm in Austin, I try to get to either Guadalupe or S. Lamar.
Congrats.

I have picked up several photo books from Barnes & Noble art discount rack at great discounts. A few I have never heard of and has opened up new territory.

I bought that book when it was first published and was happy to drop $100 for it. I've admired her work for years.
Good find, matt.
