Default Upcoming Terrain Gallery Photography Exhibit

Dear APUG members, There is going to be a photography exhibit at the Terrain Gallery in SOHO in NYC titled "EMOTION--in BLACK & WHITE and COLOR 15 Photographers" The opening is Saturday, March 24 from 2-4PM. The Terrain Gallery is located at 141 Greene Street in Soho NYC 10012.

I'm proud that I will have 5 of my photographs in this exhibition. The title of the exhibit is based on this quote from Eli Siegel, founder of the philosophy Aesthetic Realism " The purpose of photography is to create an emotion about the world through what has been carefully seen and selected."

So if you live in the NYC area or are visiting NYC be sure to come to this show it is going to be mighty fine.

Regards,
John

Vincent- do you know if the show will be open for viewing before the reception? I will be in New York on the 21st and 22nd, and would love to catch it if I can.

Unfortunatly I don't think it will be open for viewing prior to that date. I wish you could stay in NYC for 2 more days, it is going to be a major show. If you can't get to the opening the exhibit will be there through July. Gallery hours are wed-fri 12-5 & Sat 12-4PM.

On Saturday April 21st at 8PM there is going to be a two hour presentation titled "Photography Asks: How Well Do We See?" featuring Eli Siegel's definitive talk "The Dramatic Opposites in Photography" I am schedueled to Co-chair the presentation and it is an oportunity to view the exhibit as well.

Default Fronting for Aesthetic Realism

Folks might be interested in the background of the organization hosting this exhibit. Former members (like me) consider it to be a cult:

You might also be interested to see how Mr. DiPietro reacts when people in his organization are criticized. He calls them liars:

This was in response to another former members' criticisms of an art class leader:

None of this is intended to dissuade people from seing Mr. DiPietro's exhibit. If you have an interest in it, you should certainly go.
