Having read this thread all in one go, I can only shake my head in disbelief.
We are all apprehensive about changes to our favorite magazines - I have seen many disappear or morph into something ugly.
There seems to be a sincere desire from the magazine to listen to APUG members. Some great suggestions for the mag, and some absurd. In 2008, it is quite mad to expect a photography magazine to ignore digital content and survive.
We're spoiled here on APUG because the content here is so focused (sorry!) on our interests. Magazines cannot do that. We are talking about one of the few magazines that still has any detectable analog content, and yet some bright lights are walking away because it is not
purely analog. Well, I see the glass as half full - I can look at interesting images, and read articles involving analog photography. Hooray!
Yes, there are a too many other sources of info for digital, and we don't need another, IMHO. It is a small price to pay though, to keep analog coverage alive. If analog photographers don't support publications that cover analog photography, the end result is predictable. Also, us old farts had better keep in mind that we need to keep attracting new recruits to keep analog photography alive and vital: magazines like B&W are important in exposing (sorry!) a new generation of photographers to the world of film and paper.
