Let me explain, last April's issue (No. 84) had a red banner across the top of the cover proclaiming "Scanning B&W negs". "Great" I thought to myself "just what I need" having bought a scanner to scan negs to show on APUG. On reading the magazine I discover that it contains 1 page curtailed by the inclusion of one photo and 1 hi-lighted extract from an interview that must have lasted no more than 5 minutes explaining how one photographer now works with film and a scanner and of course be sure to check out his web site for more examples of his "great work". Yes indeed my money was well spent on this startling insightful issue.
Cheers

PS It is the magazines job to sell itself (honestly one hopes) to me and not for me to develope the monthly habit of buying it no matter what.
Not sure people would be interested in cameras used for bookends and producing junk snaps! Thanks for the thought tho.
Y'know, before the last two editors (!) there was always one "junk cam" group of pictures in the Reader's Gallery. I liked that about the magazine. I'd like to see that come back because "junk snaps" take a certain amount of skill and a different way of thinking to get a good shot. Exposure alone seems to boggle most gear-head-types when lowcost cameras come up in discussion.
If I get my butt in gear, I'll hopefully submit my first bits of cyanotype work to the reader's gallery. Not sure if my brushstrokes will suit their style though.
