Default US Copy

The US copy costs more because Lehman Bros owe the UK around 4.6billion

That they have the gall to price this despicable rag the same as a roll of 35mm film proves that they are money-grabbing despots that should throw themselves from their ivory tower and have the moment perfectly captured by Cartier Bresson who was terrifically good at that sort of thing and is dead or Weegie who did great dead-people photographs and is also dead.

Any chance future copies of BW could be printed by Caxton Press and arrive with a sachet of dust with a scratch and sniff 'Musty Smell' panel to give the readership that authentic old master experience?
Are you sure that will be worth the high price of petrol?
Kind regards

I'm sure the price of petrol will eventually come down, thanks ... but I thought it was important to keep this thread at the top of the listing by adding any old comment. I don't have anything much to say on the thread but neither has anyone else so far ;-)

I had a quick scan of this month's issue in the shop today. I searched in vain for the follow up article on scanning - result I'm keeping my money in my pocket. It can only be a matter of time before this magazine closes its covers, or re-launches itself as Black & White Photography for Digital Workers.

I've been trying to keep quiet on this topic for the past couple of months, but I'm afraid that the so-called "lens review" by Frances Schultz is about the last straw. While this seems at first glance to be a comparison of the Leica Tr-Elmar against the Zeiss Distagon 18mm, it is actually nothing more than 1/4 page of Frances saying that she likes the 18mm focal length!

Agreed. The past 3 issues have been brutal.

Their technical articles are the pits. Years ago they reviewed the resolving power of TechPan by taking hand held shots with a Canon Rebel w/ 'kit' zoom lens, in a marsh, on a cloudy day: cheap zoom, wide open, 1/15th second hand held, subject: mist and fog. Great test of resolving power...

The magazine's technical smarts hasn't gone down hill: it never got up the hill.

OTOH, I like the magazine, just renewed, and yes, the price is high but it hasn't gone up in 2 years.

I flipped through it in the store. Was pleasantly surprised to see a small bit in the news section on our own David Chow (davec101). Didn't really see anything else of interest in it, though, so didn't buy it.

Next months issue, December #92, features David Chow's cyanotypes.
