Congrats to B&WP, the March issue features the first of five part series by Tim Rudman.

You are obviously a 'the glass is half full' person, while I'm obviously a 'the glass is half empty' person.

Rather than the first of a five part series I read it with disappointment, as it seems to me more a four page 'teaser' for a four part series on lith printing.

There's little there for someone who is familiar with lith printing with the old papers, other than a reassuring 'there are some new papers that you can use, and i'll tell you about them next time.

There's also no simple explanation or advice for someone who might consider starting, but sufficient technical detail to discourage. A comment that one of the easiest papers to use for lith printing is (Paterson Acugrade Warmtone), and it works well with (Fotospeed LD20) would have given the begiiner a starting point to experiment with now, rather than wait another month. (And if I'm wrong about the easiest I want to know! For the beginner it even has the advantage of being a resin coated variable contrast paper, unlike all the others I'm aware of.)

My copy of B&W Photography has not arrived in Holland yet, but I will certianly look forward to reading what Tim Rudman has to say on Lith printing!

Thank you Ailsa for giving Tim pages in your magazine to talk about Lith printing. Articles about that lovely process are very rare these days, and totally non-existant in Holland.

I for one don't mind waiting till next month for the next article. When your passion is photography, you have to be patient :-)

It seems it takes exactly 1 month for us the get an issue here in Canada. Sucks as you guys are all talking about stuff I won't see for at least 3 to 4 weeks.

I agree its a little bit of a teaser but with five parts it has to start with an introduction of sorts [I'm just glad its not a "Rudman goes d****** Lith" article, like the Ephraums article last year]

It will be worth the wait anyway guys, theres lots more in the issue.

Don't get me wrong - I'm delighted that Tim Rudman is providing an update on the current state of lith printing (so I'll echo the thanks to Ailsa). Its just that this first article disappoints.

At a time when I'm discontinuing my subsriptions to three other UK photo mags, I'm just about to renew my subscription to B&WP for another two years.

If you're reading this then congratulations Ailsa for a really great job in producing something excellent that stands out from the crowd; not an easy task!

Please don't increase the amount of digital covered in your publication. I appreciate that the market is going that way and I honestly have nothing against it. However, there are already a ludicrous amount of publications that specialise on digital equipment and technique and the mainstream mags are focussing more and more heavily on it too.

It is so refreshing to have at least one publication where traditional techniques are still discussed in depth and in an intelligent manner.

As a lith-novice I look forward to seeing the rest of Tim Rudman's series. Seeing a few more of your prints would be nice too; I've enjoyed what little I've seen in past issues!
