    Peter Marlow London Exhibition

For anyone in London just now there is an excellent exhibition from Magnum photographer Peter Marlow at The Wapping Project-Bankside, which is just behind Tate Modern. (Not to be confused with it's parent gallery, The Wapping Project which actually is in Wapping.)

It's an evocative series of 35mm night photographs taken nearly 30 years ago of the Docklands just before the building work started on the big financial centre that the area is now. Bill Brandt's night photography of London is acknowledged as a big influence on the project. Location details and opening times at http://www.thewappingprojectbankside.com/
    More details at http://events.magnumphotos.com/exhibition/london-night

They are all vintage prints, printed by Marlow himself in 1982 for a show at the Photographer's Gallery. Runs till the 10th of January. One minor complaint though. The gallery text comments that they were printed on a 'now obsolete paper called Ilford Gallerie.' I had to be a pedant and mention that Gallerie was still available and could be found a few minutes walk away at Silverprint. That aside, one of the best shows I've seen this year.

Thanks for the nice words Mike. The Ilford Gallerie paper that Silverprint sell is Inkjet paper. The real Bromide stuff is long gone.

Er......... but it is out there though to be honest, only in grades 2 and 3. Grade 4 was dropped earlier this year I think.

Having said that, I don't use much of it these days.
    Cheers
    Mike
