    Speedotron Blackline 805 not firing

Anyone familiar with these? This unit isn't firing at all, with either of my 103 heads. Was working fine, then stopped firing in the middle of a shoot.

I unplugged the sync cable, and tried to fire it using the orange button on top. Nothing. Turned the unit off, and it didn't discharge the flash. Tried another head, same symptoms. Pushed the reset button and that didn't help. The modelling light on both heads worked fine though.

At this point, I'm thinking it must be the power pack. I don't have a spare to test with, unfortunately. I tried plugging it into a different circuit in my house (don't know what difference that should make though). I'm out of ideas - is this thing toast?

Did you try firing on different power settings?
    Could be a capacitor maybe.

Hard to say but do NOT open the thing up and start poking around in there.
Just one capacitor can severely injure you.

I tried it on 2 different settings, and plugged into two different sockets. Same deal. I'm thinking I need to send it in for repair.

The unit was repaired by the last owner before I bought it. Now I'm wondering what the issue was last time. Hope I didn't buy a lemon.

Well, luckily it's not one of the 2400 series that would need to be shipped if there are no techs in your area.

I don't own an 805 but used several a good bit.
They are good reliable packs when right.

    Good luck Jeff.
