Ok, just tested, sent myself a message, got it, but nothing shows up in my sent messages folder. So maybe you've heard from me. Sorry about all this.

Just to close the loop on this. Dwight (Zydeholic) is now a member of F295..... Thanks for persevering Dwight! this is the first time we've had such a weird validation issue. Sorry for the inconvience. Thanks to Sean for allowing us to work this out here on APUG!
