Camera Obscura
Made my room into a camera obscura today and then posted a picture of the project image online. A friend of mine commented on it with a link to a photographer who had done some camera obscura work but their images were right side up on the wall. I assumed this was done using photoshop but she said she read he uses a prism to correct the projected image? Is there any truth to this and if so, how does it work and what shape prism would be used? Any information would be great, thanks.

See National Geographic May 2011 for a fascinating article on pinhole / cameran obscura imaging using walls, floors or the ground to project images using a LF set up inverted with mirrors. No Photoshop involved.

That is way cool!
I did that in my darkroom once and it is such an amazing thing to behold.
I'm not sure what kind of prism Abelardo used exactly, but I wanna say it's just a simple 90° prism(??).

Thanks! It is quite amazing, especially when things are moving outside. Thanks for the tip about the prism. I'll do some more research online and see what I come up with. In the meantime I can just mess around with something mirrors.

Very cool. I may soon be buying a stepvan for business use, and I think it'd be cool to set up an obscura in it, just for the halibut.

That would be pretty awesome. My sister and her boyfriend are out of town right now and he left his van here while they're gone. It just has two seats in the front and the rest is open space - I was so tempted to convert it into a camera obscura
