Where to find leicas under 300 bucks?

    I'm just curious.

On the ebay the m3 and m4 seem to go for 600-700. Craigslist wants around the same.

    Thanks

I don't think you can find an M body for under $300. If you do, it'll probably be beat to hell.

How about a III (Barnack) series? They're cheaper it seems.

Maybe a used Voigtlaender rangefinder would serve you as well? I can recommend the R3M.

If you find an M series Leica for under $300 as has already been said it will be well worn and tatty, and you won't get a lens with it.

You'd be lucky to find even an old screw mount Leica & lens that's worth using for $300. These are cameras built to last and they hold their value.

So, what would be a reasonable price for them?

Price really depends on where you buy them from. I bought my M3 about 20 years ago from Leica dealers, body at one, Summicron at another, meter at a third. But for that I knew the camera body had been serviced and fully tested.

Now I guess I'd buy from ebay, or the classifieds here on APUG, can't help with prices, but there have been some excellently priced Leica's sold here recently.

    lowest cost leica

    Audrey,
Probably an M2 used body for 600-700 dollars US & 600-700 for a used
Elmar 2.8 50mm lens. Its worth it, as they will last you at least 30 years &
the print quality will be amazing...

I've been buying back into Leica in the last year or so - best price I got was an M2 in Exc++ condition for £220 with a seized shutter release, perfect after a CLA for £110. Cheapest Leica I ever sold was a wartime IIIc, awful chrome, half of it hanging off, mechanicals worn out (poor materials), which I sold for £100 as a shelf ornament.

Perhaps you can find a M3 out there, some assembly required and you will have to find the missing parts. The minimum price out there seems to be around the $700 mark.

..and it will always be worth just about the same. Basically you're just borrowing it for some time.
Holga: if it was any more analog, you'd need a chisel.
