Default Compatibility question

Does anyone know if the Leica/Minolta CL/CLE cameras are compatible with the new Voigtlander 40 f1.4 lens? It would be nice to have the speed of that lens with the compactness and automation of the CLE, for a snapshot camera, and the 40mm of the lens matches the CLE viewfinder exactly, but I don't know if there would be focusing issues wide open, or other compatibility problems.

You could ask the manufacturer they should know.

I know that Steve Gandy posts here- I was hoping he might read this and respond.

http://www.cameraquest.com/voigt4014.htm

Quoted from Sthepen Gandy's Cameraquest website

“The 40/1.4 will mount fine on the CLE, however the 40/1.4 hood will block the CLE's rangefinder.”

If you look at his website he actually says the lens is compatible. Tom's told you the rest, so I edited it out.

I got a CL that came with the 40/1.4 -- perfectly fine in use. The CL might not be able to handle a 50/1.4, but the greater depth of field of the 40mm covers any potential focusing imprecision of the CL's short baselength.
