The Kodak 1958 documentary on "How film is made" as it was subtitled and made available in a joint project for APUG by me (Marco Boeringa), Ray Rogers and Denise Ross, and that shows the production process of photographic and cinematic film in the heydays of film production and usage.

Many thanks to Frank Bruinsma of the Super8 Reversal Lab in the Netherlands for making this film available to the APUG community.

    I would like to add a caution that parts of this film appear to have been made at least 10 years earlier than reported. The coating scene in particular seems to date from the 40s or perhaps earlier. The reason I say this is that the trough coater shown in the film was no longer in use in the 50s. The transition to extrusion hoppers was complete, and the transition to slide hoppers had begun by that time.
