Digital is looking pretty good today.....Part 2

by OptiKen on 02-12-2015 at 03:05 PM
I had an idea for a Valentine's picture that I wanted to try and then give to my daughter and her fiance.
I have a 5X7 B&W picture of them I shot and printed in a frame that I put in the background to be shot slightly out of focus.
Focused in the foreground I artfully placed (to the best of my artful ability) a blue and white china cup and saucer filled with all colors of conversation hearts with a few 'good phrases' ones scattered around it that I could focus on as well as a single

Fun.....like crack

It suddenly dawned on me.
NOW I get it.

You opened your arms and knowledge to me asking for nothing in return. You gave me advice when I asked for it, praise when I probably didn't deserve it, and a place to store some of my most precious possessions. Always, asking nothing in return. Somehow it just always costs me money.

Someone mentions trying out different colored filters on B&W film or papers and suddenly I'm googling where to buy some.
Someone else shows a picture and expresses surprise at how well and sharp the lens is on an old Kodak (..fill in the blank) and then I'm searching eBay to try

From tool to hobby...

Someone started a post in the forum asking 'What are you shooting today (with..?"
I've posted to it a couple of times over the past few weeks and realized that my posts seem to be starting with, "I'm testing out....or, " trying a new film/process...", etc.

Once upon a time, I would grab my camera (yes, once upon a time it was only ONE camera) and go out to shoot something. Landscape or portrait or family gathering. My purpose was focused on the subject completely
