You have some interesting and innovative ideas, Joe. I'll remember them. I think, though, that since I have a very reliable and simple camera back design for use with film holders, I'll try that first on the prototype to see whether or not the aspect ratio meets my needs and expectations. I'll make a foam core or mat board holder of some sort, I guess, and see how it goes. Can't start it this week, though: the "honey do" list lengthened while I was in Ohio at the recent gathering at John Powers' place. :)
i made a paper holder for an 11x14 camera.
it is a book design,
so you basically have a piece that hold the edges of
the paper fold onto. and then the outer frame of the holder on top of that ..
and the darkslide can just go where it normally goes ...
pretty low tech and easy.
Easy is good. You wouldn't happen to have pictures or a drawing, would you?

I would also love to see you pics of the film holders you made. Please post here if possible.
here it is , in the form of a big contact sheet.
the felt looking stuff is black flocking material
it is just masking taped together, simple hinges ..
to load it, you unfold it and slide
the paper under the edges that hold it
fold the window cut out over it and then the
top part over that. there is tape to hold the whole thing shut.
the darkslide slides between the top and middle section.
it doesn't seem to leak, i have used it only indoors with incandescent lights
and tungston lights it seems to work well for me at least ...
whoops, this must have been deleted by me somehow!
