I agree completely. I got my first Leica 8+ years ago and found out pretty quickly that for the kind of shooting I do I really preferred rangefinders to my Nikon SLRs. Over the years I've gone through a number of Leica bodies and have settled down with a couple of MPs and an M2 and a few Leica lenses. I like the small size and the reliability and simplicity of them, and I shoot just B&W film so the older lenses from the 50s & 60s are more than enough. If you shoot mostly 35 & 50mm lenses and use the framelines to see what's happening outside the frames they are the best tool for the job I think.
