How to remove forums & threads from view, and from searches ("new posts" for example)

    HOW TO IGNORE FORUMS

The ignore forum modification is back. Here are some instructions for using it:

Go to your general settings option, located here:
    http://www.apug.org/forums/usercp.php

Click "General Settings" then scroll down to the bottom of your general settings page to see the forum exclusion tool:

Follow instructions above the tool to select forums to exclude. You can either select individual forums or parent forums, if a parent forum is selected all forums underneath it will be excluded. For example if you select the main German forum then all forums beneath it will be excluded.

One way to keep tabs on what you have excluded from searches is to check the new "Search Parameters" bar at the top of search result pages. Notice the two listed which I have excluded as part of testing.

To re-activate forums simply reverse the above steps.

Keep in mind this tool will not only remove forums from search result pages but from view. If you have a direct link to the forum you can still view it -for example you can ignore the classifieds so that they no longer will appear in searches, but since the APUG menu has a direct link to the classifieds you can still see them.

    HOW TO IGNORE INDIVIDUAL THREADS

Is there a particular thread driving you nuts? Well now with 1 click you can make it vanish. You can also view your ignored threads in your control panel and re-enable them.

While in a thread, simply click "Thread Tools" then click "Ignore Thread"

To view your ignored threads go to your settings panel here:
    http://www.apug.org/forums/usercp.php

Scroll down your menu and click "Ignored Threads"

    That's it.

If you have any trouble with these tools please let me know.

    Thanks,
    Sean
