First, thanks for a great response! This seems like the wisest advice, and probably what I'll choose to do until I can find more direction regarding a Long Island trip.

I've heard about Fire Island before, all positive comments. I'll look into this, it sounds like some great advice. Also, it should be very interesting to compare this barbecue to that of North Carolina. NC's BBQ is pretty tough competition, IMHO...
