I've shipped to and bought from all over the world many times and really only had a problem once and that was shipping TO the US. Apparently the mailman left the package on the doorstep instead of giving it to the buyer in person and having him sign for it, but since I always ship insured there was no issue getting the money back for the buyer. Usually packages only take a couple of days from the US to Europe, including customs. It seems a lot of US sellers just assume it's a hassle without really knowing or bothering to find out. If the buyer is willing to pay the shipping costs and you make sure to ship insured there's really no risk as far as I know.
