Todd, I don't have a D5500 but I do have a 5x7 Omega (E series), and I know that Omega enlargers share pretty much the same concepts for elevation/focusing/etc. The best advice you can get would come from Harry Taylor who seems to know more about Omegas than the folks who designed them. He also has a free forum that is very informative, and I found the answer to my slippage problem there. Plus emails from Harry provided additional detail info that was pertinent to my problem (slipping of the lens stage trying to hold the focus setting, rather than slipping of the elevation system).
