A macro lens is real good real close. An f 1.4 lens is good when you are shooting in "available darkness." You don't need a car that goes 150mph to cart horse stuff from your farm and you don't need a pickup that smells like horses for that date on Saturday night. Use the tool that will do the job. They are both fabulous lenses.
