Len, I'm with you. Some years ago I got tired of having a 500/5.6 cine camera lens collecting dust in the closet, reasoned that I'd be better off with it gone and whatever it brought spent on something more useful. So I sold it. The lens had been overhauled at vast expense by Century. I took a bad beating on it. But I was better off with cash in hand than with unused lens in closet.
I recently made some foolish purchases, am now selling lenses and odds and ends to reimburse my much too indulgent wife's household budget. I hope I'll at least break even but even if I don't I'll be better off with the new stuff than with the old. Keeping domestic peace doesn't hurt either.
