Ha! This is great. And as a funny story to go with that... A few weeks ago I was at a coffee shop in Dickinson, ND (part of the ND oil boom here in the states). It's a pretty small town other than the insane amounts of oil related infrastructure all over. Anyway, there was this guy sitting a few tables away from me. He looked like a college kid with the "hipster" kind look to hm. He was reading two books, one was "Eat, Love, Pray" (?!?!?) and the other "Film is not dead". And he had an old school 35mm camera with him. I thought the whole thing was pretty comical but I appreciated seeing a film shooter in the middle of nowhere ND. Even if he was doing it simply to make a fashion statement. Whatever their motives I do hope these young kids really do get the analog bug and stick with it
And as far as "cool girls shoot film" group, I "like" their facebook page. It's a nice group with some talent but I find it a little empty (and this is coming from a female). Most of their updates are photos of their "cool" old cameras but really no discussion about actual photography or expanding your skills or vision. I must say, as a female I'm a little disappointed. Female photographers have an uphill battle in this field to begin with and this site (at least the FB page) isn't helping much IMHO.
