Joe McNally did this. It was his "Faces of Ground Zero" project. He photographed 272 people that were at ground zero of 9/11 or are family members of those that did not make it. He used the Moby C Polaroid. It produced 4 foot by 9 foot polaroids. This was in 2002 and the project raised over 2 million dollars. You can buy the book as well.
