In the UK there's also 'The Film Game'
8 Beresford Ave
Telephone: +44 20 87954040
(still in business? not sure)
and FSC Blanx:
70 Wardour Street
Telephone: +44 20 74942244
Marjorie Clayton, the photographer, used to deal with the short ends and recans at FSC Blanx, she may still work there. I think that her work was in B&W magazine (UK) a few months ago.
(Rant: Visualnet has to be one of the most annoying resources in the movie industry. A Google search returns heaps of visualnet hits, but the contact information provided by them doesn't include websites for those companies that have them. How lame is that?)
Short ends and recans can be a bit of an uncertain business. You can also try your local Kodak sales office for 'odd lengths'. Kodak and Fuji also offer generous discounts for those of you who are students. I'm not sure how common this is, but Kodak do give away bagfuls of hand-loaded cassettes of film for testing. They may be influenced by how much film you are likely to buy, of course...
