I also have the 28/f2 and it's a hidden gem - which is why you should never repeat what I've said in the past sentence. :-) However, the 24/2.8 is a CLASSIC Nikkor lens that does not let down. When I shoot close proximity street I use anything from a 20 to a 35 and anything within that range will generally work fine (with 24-28 being about preferred).
